Scientific Use Files (standardized)
ELSTAT provides access to standardized Scientific Use Files. These are microdata files of its statistical surveys, which have been anonymized in accordance with anonymization criteria predefined by ELSTAT and may lead to indirect identification of surveyed units. Users who request microdata exclusively for scientific or research purposes have the right to access these files. To grant access to the microdata files, the users must register on ELSTAT’s website and submit a relevant application and a research proposal or the purpose of data use, as applicable, through ELSTAT’s website. Once the research proposal or the purpose of data use is approved by ELSTAT, the users should transmit to the Data Dissemination Section of ELSTAT the necessary documents (contract or agreement, as applicable, authorization form, statistical confidentiality declaration, declaration on the provision of information and consent for personal data) correctly completed and signed. It is noted that the applicant must be either the researcher who will use the data or one of the persons authorized by the requesting agency who will have access to the data. After the contract or agreement, as applicable, is signed by the President of ELSTAT, a link and password is transmitted to the user to access the files is interested in.
