Net-SILC3

The third Network for the analysis of EU-SILC (Net-SILC3) is funded by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) and consists of a group of institutions and researchers using the comparative EU data source “EU Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC)”. It brings together experts from nine European Statistical System (ESS) bodies and eight academic bodies:

   a) ESS bodies: the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER, Net-SILC3 coordinator), seven National Statistical Institutes (from Austria, Finland, France, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands and the UK) and the Scientific Institute of Public Health (Belgium);

   b) academic bodies: University of Oxford (UK), Institute of Economic Sciences (Serbia), Institute for Social and Economic Research (University of Essex, UK), Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences (GESIS, Germany), Herman Deleeck Centre for Social policy (University of Antwerp, Belgium), Stockholm University, University of Manchester (UK) and University of Amsterdam (NL).

The plans for the Network build on a solid foundation of previous work (esp. in the context of Net-SILC1 and Net-SILC2) and seek to address various methodological and analytical questions that are of particular importance at this stage of the maturation of EU-SILC.

Between 2016 and 2020, Net-SILC3 will carry out in-depth methodological work and socio-economic analysis of the EU-SILC data (covering both cross-sectional and longitudinal dimensions) and develop common tools and approaches regarding various aspects of data production for the whole ESS. It will also organise two EU-SILC conferences as well as four “Best Practice Workshops”.
