Visit of the 1st public Higher Technological Institute (IEK) of Heraklion to the Regional Statistical Office (RSO) of Heraklion
On Thursday 20 December 2018, students of the 1st public IEK of Heraklion visited the RSO of Heraklion, in the context of ELSTAT’s actions for Fostering Statistical Literacy in Greece. Educational visits have been carried out so far on the premises of ELSTAT in Piraeus, but during the last year the programme began to run in some RSOs, including visits by the President of ELSTAT to educational units.
The key speaker was the Head of the RSO of Rethymno who informed the students on the importance of the statistical science, the usefulness of official statistics, as well as the work of ELSTAT and Eurostat. He also presented the procedures for collecting, processing and compiling statistical data, while making a detailed reference to the dissemination means of official statistics through the ELSTAT website, the media, social networks, etc.
